Cleaning progress to the forums has been made!

Hello!
I am one of the administrators here. Maybe any of you has noticed that Mario Builder forums lose the number of registered members. This is because there were a lot of users who just spammed the space just by registering and not visiting the forums after that even for years now if at all. There were also a lot of not yet accepted members so as an administrator I felt too undisciplined …

Platform Builder forums

Dear members! I am not active with Mario Builder nor it's forums anymore although I still view some activity here sometimes. This is because of the need to choose some activities from all ones in ridiculously limited time. Good things are that I spend more time on something that has been created by the same creator as for Mario Builder. This is Platform Builder and it's own forum.

I'm making a full length game...
Hey everyone, I'm new here. Only heard about Mario Builder quite recently.
I spent a bit of time learning the program and then immediately began making my own game. It's something I've wanted to do since I was a kid, but didn't have the means to do. I'm not very good with code. I learned qbasic, vbasic, a little povray & c++ when I was in highschool, but just the basics really.
I've put about 100 hours into it so far, including playing through several times to find the bugs. Making a warp world was a huge time saver
It's going to have between 70-75 playable areas (levels, ghost houses, castles & doomships), plus the hammer bros and bonus areas.
It's coming along great. I had some issues with a ghost house door maze, but I think I have that working fine now.
The issue I'm having a hard time finding an answer for is the controls. Some my friends really want to play my game when it's done, but really don't like using the keyboard. It can be played with a usb controller but if you press th run & jump buttons at the same time, the program thinks you're hitting 'Esc'.
Is there any way to change this, so it can be played with a controller? Is it possible to convert the Mario Builder game fils to .smc to be played in snes9x emulator?
Any other suggestions?
Cheers

the pics are too large, you should make them smaller the next time you update the topic
with that out of the way, it looks pretty good. Those 100 hours were worth it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Looks great, can't wait to play it . Also, pressing F9 is best way to make screenshot in MB. The screenshot is saved to game's folder.
Re: I'm making a full length game...
Now that I've been a member for over a week, I can post a link...
My screen shots
Some of the World Maps have been altered since I first made them, plus I made an extra hidden World, that can only be accessed from one place in the whole game.
I've also been working on making my own tile sets. Just frustrated with how much photoshop works is needed for existing tilesets to be used. The only one I haven't had any issue with is the forest set that came with Mario Builder v 11.4.
I've been going through levels in my snes emulator to do screen shots and then photoshop what I need. So far it's working out pretty well. I also grabbed a few things from DKcountry
Also found a videogame soundtrack resource, so I'll be including some tracks from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as well as some cool funk tunes i found online...royalty free stuff.
Next I'm looking for royalty free background images (or anything that will look good) When my game is completed and uploaded, I will share all the sets I made or altered. There are a few that I just sliced out what I needed from other sets and put them together for convenience, so I'll try to exclude any duplicates.

new tiles I see? post them on the sprites and graphics section so I can steal err I mean use them in the future. I'll let you know if the tiles are good or not.
Anyways, judging by the screenshots some of them look pretty good and some of them not so good. The world maps are pretty good. Keep up the good work and hopefully the rest of the game will be better

Re: I'm making a full length game...
Yeah, my first attempt at doing tiles wasn't so good. Had lots of stray pixels, but I got it figured out now.
Most of the tiles that I'm using, that I didn't make, are selections from tilesets by Viper. a few odds and ends from others, will give credits when the project is done. About half of the tiles I'll be using are my own (not counting the standard grounds that come with the builder).

Re: I'm making a full length game...
Well i fixed my tiles so there are no stray pixels, but it doesn't look quite right. Not sure, but something changed between taking a screen cap & working on it in photoshop. I made sure to use 96 pix/inch (the same as the tiles i downloaded). It looked good in photoshop, but not in the game play. I think i'm going to stick with existing tilesets for this project. Still going to learn how to do it better for later projects. Also still going to post the collections I've assembled from other tilesets.
Re: I'm making a full length game...
Just about the only good thing to come from being sick on a long weekend... plenty of progress in making more levels in my Mario game.
Finished the last level in Thule -world 6 (ice world), Death Valley (desert world) -world 7, Bowser's Kingdom -world 8A, Boswer's Castle (the world map, not the level)-world 8B
Just finished the main entrance area to Bowser's Castle (the level), which has 4 stages:
1. The Outside area (graveyard, lava field, & 5 different entrances to the castle itself)
2. The Basement
3. The Way up to the Roof
4. Bowser's Doomship... then of course the Final Bowser Battle.
It is of epic proportions. I removed the time limit for outside area because it's just too big. There are 4 doors & a pipe to choose from. Where do they go... that's for me to know. Each way to the different areas of the Castle are increasingly difficult to get to, but the more challenging it is, the closer to the end area it will take you.
After this, I still have the Secret World to build levels for, then on to a final round of edits before it's complete.
Can't say for certain if it'll be done by the end of February, but it should be close.

Super Mario & the Quest for Thule
Finished building the game! Now in testing mode.
There are 8 Worlds, a Warp World, & a Secret World, with more than 100 playable areas.
51 Levels
11 Fortresses.
4 Ghost Houses.
8 Boss levels (Castles or Doomships)
45 Bros. battles (incl Tank & Ship stage W-8.)
17 Toad House Bonus
I still need to do a full play through to check for glitches, but I think it's pretty much done. Also, still need to work on the controller setting options. Only keyboard playable for now.

Re: I'm making a full length game...
Yeah, that tileset is great, too big though, had to slice out what i needed for each world and make smaller sets with what was available.
I'm still going to try to master making, or ripping and mod'ing my own, but I found enough good stuff to finish my first game. BIG thanks to those who took the time to make the tilesets.

Re: I'm making a full length game...
I will soon. There are still a few stray pixels to be cleaned up, and i noticed a few objects are out of alignment by a pixel or 2. going to fix that up before posting the tilesets.
I ended up not using everything i had, so it didn't really matter to me while i was making the game.

I just posted all the tiles I used, in the Sprites & Graphics section of the forum
Re: I'm making a full length game...
There were a few remaining errors in the game that I just fixed. I also added more climbing stuff. Anything that hangs can be climbed, chandeliers, ropes, chains, anchors, ladder, etc., just not the candles, or trees etc. Although tree climbing would be a good idea for another project.
I updated the download link:
